With the objective of ensuring a more meaningful analysis of financial data and better budgeting through analysis of the accounts of the State using electronic data processing equipment. the Government established the Central Budget Data Processing Centre in 1971. The main intention of the Government to utilize the electronic data processing facilities in due course to form the nucleus of the Management Information System for Government. Hence, a full-fledged Government Data Centre was established in 1972. For administrative convenience both the above Centres were merged and the Government Data Centre was established in 1975. This Centre now deals with the following functions:-
(i) Contributory Pension Scheme
(ii) GPF Scheme for the employees of Puratchi Thalaivar MGR Nutritious Meal and Integrated Child Development Services
(iii) Processing of results for the examinations conducted by the Directorate of Government Examinations.
